Description
This very hard-to-find, if not rare, item is a badge (or medal) from the 34th annual meeting of the Associated Harvard Clubs, which was held in Cleveland, Ohio, in May 1933. At this meeting, Harvard University President A. Lawrence Lowell, who was retiring in June, was the guest of honor, and the speakers included Walter Lippman and Thomas W. Lamont. This item consists of a pinback bar with slot for a name card connected to a fob (or drop) by a red ribbon printed with meeting information (partially legible). The fob/drop has the wordsASSOCIATED HARVARD CLUBS
and a very high-relief (three-dimensional) design likely to be the logo used by the organization. The name of the manufacturer (Whitehead & Hoag; Newark, NJ) is on both the pinback bar and reverse of the drop.
The metal portions are non-magnetic and likely are bronze. This
medal
measures approximately 50 x 94 mm (1-15/16 x 3-11/16") overall.
This item is in very good (or better)
condition
. The metal portions have very light actual wear (if any), limited signs of handling, toning, and soiling, and they remain bright. The ribbon remains fairly bright with good color. The attachment pin remains strong and works well.
The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description. NOTE: This item is brighter and more attractive than is evident in the photos.
