  • Condition: The doll is not torn. Its clothes show dust of its age. The head is not attached to the body, because a shoulder seam is open. It will be easy to reattach the head by sewing the seam. I have left the head off, so that the fiber filling inside is exposed. This might help to date the doll more accurately. The hat is bent and would be difficult to straighten without damage. The ribbon tying the scarf/cape is wrinkled.

    Description

    THIS IS PROBABLY A CHARACTER REPRESENTATION, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHO IT IS.
    I believe this doll belonged to my brother who was born in 1928.
    It has cloth hands and feet. The head is hollow and appears to be celluloid.
    The clothing is velour-like.
    Trousers are dark blue with white grosgrain ribbon stripe up each leg.
    Jacket is red with broader ribbon up the front.
    There is a small yellow cape with orange ribbon edge and white tie to attach it to the doll.
    The hat is "cowboy" style and made of brown paper.
    The body is "jointed" at the hips so that the doll can sit.
    The arms are jointed at the shoulders.
    The eyes, hair, & mouth (with 2 small upper teeth) are painted.
    This doll was stored in a box for many years.
    It is now in a non-smoking home, with no pets or perfumes.
