    Description

    A beautiful collectible set of four U.S. postage stamps issued in 1949 on the 200th anniversary of the founding of Washington and Lee University. Following the Civil War, General Robert E. Lee became the president of Washington College which added his name to the title when it became a university in 1871.
    These stamps have never been used and are as fresh as the day they were sold at the post office over 70 years ago! Suitable for framing, they would make a great gift for any alumni, student, professor or any fan of this fine institution.
